Left Crankcase Cover Removal

STARTER GEAR COVER REMOVAL

Remove the left crankcase rear covet.

Remove the starter gear cover. Remove the gasket and dowel pins.

Remove the starter drive year and starter torque ilmlter.

Check the starter cover bearings for damage or excessive play.

Replace, if necessary, using the following tool,

TOOL:

Bearing remover set, 10 mm 07936-GE00000

Not available In U.S.A.

Drive In a new bearing with the following tools.

TOOLS;

Driver 07749 0010000

Attachment, 24 x 26 mm 07746-0010700

Pilot, 10 mm 07746 — 0040100

(1) DRIVE GEAR BEARING

(1) DRIVE GEAR BEARING

(2) TORQUE WREN

(1) TORQUE LIMITER

ATTACHMENT

STARTER TORQUE LIMITER INSPECTION

Hold the torque limiter in a vise with sheet copper or equivalent material.

Check the torque limiter slip torque with the special tool and a torque wrench.

TOOL:

Torque limiter attachment 07998 MG80000

Not available in U.S.A.

Replace the torque limiter if the slip torque Is out of the specifications.

STATOR REMOVAL

Remove the clutch slave cylinder from the left crank case cover.

NOTE

• Do not operate the clutch lever after removing the clutch slave cylinder. To do so will cause difficulty in installing the slave cylinder.

ATTACHMENT

(2) TORQUE WREN

(1) TORQUE LIMITER

Remove the gearshift arm from the gearshift spindle.

Remove the rear and front seats (page 4-121. Disconnect the alternator wire connector.

Remove the oil pipe damp holt, left crankcase cover bolts and the cover.

Remove the alternator wire clamp and the stator from the left crankcase cover.
